The York County Amateur Golf Association offers Ghin Handicap to individuals through the YCAGA PLAYERS CLUB.  Any golfer may sign up (Men/Women/Juniors (under the age of 18) for a GHIN number, giving them the ability to develop and maintain an authorized handciap index through the World Handicap System.   This system takes affect in 2020 and is a handicap that is recognized world wide.   Changes have been made to USGA handicap system in conjunction with the RSA so that there is now one recognized handicap.
    CHANGES BEGINNING 2020
  1.  Handicap index's will now be based off your 8 best scores out of the past 20.
  2.  Slope Rating and now Course Rating and Par will be used to determine your Playing Handicap (previously Course Handicap).  Example if the course rating is 70 and par is 72 your playing handicap will go down 2 from your index.   If the course rating is 72 and par is 70 your playing handicap will go 2 from your index.
  3.  The ESC score is no longer utilized.   The maximum hole score for handicap purposes is now limited to Net Double Bogey (Par +2 + any handcap strokes you receive on that hole)
  4.  Handicap updates are daily.  It is now more critical that you enter any scores on the day played.  If no scores are entered on a given day, there will be no update over your previous handicap.
  5.  In conjunction with daily score entry, the system is now designed to account for abnormal playing conditions on any given day.  Example:  High Winds, Heavy Rain, Extreme Rough in Spring - As scores are entered each day, the system identifies scores which are out of the norm for that courses rating and sloping.  This requires a certain number of scores for any given day be entered.  If you don't enter a score on the date played, it will still be counted upon entry, but won't be utilized to determine if an upward or downward adjustment of the slope/rating is needed for that particular course.
WHAT IS THE WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM
The World Handicap System beings on Jan 1, 2020 and is intended to bring six different handicap systems together into a single set of Rules for Handicapping, enabling golfers of different abilities to play and compete on a fiar and equal basis, no matter how or where they play.
On importan thing to realize is that nearly every golfer will see a change in his/her handciap index once the system launches on January 1, 2020.  To find out what your handciap index will be under the new WHS calculation, jut enter your GHIN number in the for below and click "Submit"
